We\u2019ve written before about how the fast fashion industry has a significant impact on the environment and contributes to plastic pollution in our oceans. Indeed, according to Ethical Consumer, the fashion industry is a major contributor to plastic pollution, shedding tonnes of tiny plastic microfibres into our oceans via our washing machines every year.<\/p>

So it\u2019s worth taking a pause and reminding ourselves that there are alternatives. Sustainable fashion, as part of the Circular Economy movement, is a growing trend that aims to reduce the environmental impact of fashion production by choosing fewer, more durable clothing items made from sustainable material, which can be kept longer2. <\/p>

This year\u2019s Earth Day 2023 theme is Healthy Seas and aims to raise awareness about plastic waste in our oceans, educate the next generation, empower local communities and tackle the problem.<\/p>

Throughout Earth Day weekend this year, and hopefully every year, we\u2019ll fund the recycling of 1kg of ocean-bound plastic. That's the equivalent of 50 plastic bottles. This plastic is recovered from coastal communities around the planet by Plastic Bank.

Some might say that\u2019s no more than a drop in the ocean, but we\u2019re doing it anyway. Join us.
